RISE UP!

“AND WE’LL RISE UP, RISE LIKE THE WAVES”

Andrea day

When I was first diagnosed with deNovo Metastatic Breast Cancer that had spread to my bones in August of 2019, everyone told me over and over….you need to write, you need to journal….it will help you so much. I got journal after journal as gifts. I remember putting one in my beach bag and thinking I was going to start and immediately deciding against it. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t bring myself to write. I wanted to make sure I remembered everything that was going on, but at the time, my google calendar would have to be enough. I felt that if I wrote it down, it would make it all too real. By June of 2020, I’d had AC/Taxol chemotherapy, lumpectomy, radiation, and had started my maintenance medication, Kisqali.

We had an amazing graduation “get together” for my son and I just went to bed singing, ” Oh What a night!” I was so excited about being able to celebrate such a wonderful night that I started writing and writing and writing, in the middle of the night. It was actually a little fun for this math teacher, and almost inspirational, to look back and think about how much I had been through in the last ten months. So, here we go. I hope you learn for yourself and also learn in order to help someone else.
